Community Waterfront Friends

CWF Update

Pergola News - March 2011!

Have you ever had the joy of seeing a dream come true?  We're about to - North Bay's Community Waterfront Park is taking shape as you read this e-newsletter!

Community Waterfront Friends have been working with the City of North Bay and Heritage North Bay to bring the waterfront park to life. ... good news is we're getting there, but we need some help.
Our efforts are now focused on raising the necessary dollars to complete a Pergola at the Oak St. entrance to the "Civic Square" of the Waterfront Park.

The Leaves of Inspiration Pergola is a unique feature which provides each of us with an opportunity to recognize extraordinary, ordinary people and at the same time raise the $1 million we need to complete the park.
A "Leaf of Inspiration" engraved with the name of the person being honoured will be part of the Pergola and the waterfront's history for years to come.

This 33 acre Community Waterfront Park is a one-of-a-kind North Bay showcase. The park will provide an open-concept gathering place for residents and visitors, with gardens, waterpark, children's play area, and a series of family-friendly attractions. The Waterfront Park has been, and will continue to be, an incentive for economic, social and envi ronmental growth for the city and area at large.

Update:  300 of the 2,500 leaves are pledged/sold, honouring people from all walks of life - parents, spouses, mentors, children, leaders and organizations - who have inspired people like you.

Who will you honour?
Meet some of the extraordinary people already honoured by a Leaf of Inspiration!
Hub Fedeli
I genuinely believe in this beautiful vision.  My 3 leaves are for my dad and both my grandfathers – they’re all gone now, but our family stories will live on forever through this Pergola Project.  I hope your family stories will too.  Honoured by Vic Fedeli
Jack & Lois Cooper
We remember our dad for his devotion to us all.  We have always known that we were our parents’ first priority. Mom continues to be a real inspiration as to how to embrace and live life to the fullest. Honoured by Carol, Marcia, Diane and Laurie.
Neo King
Neo is a special child who brings love and joy to everyone who knows him.  Every child deserves to be nurtured, safe, protected and loved.  May we as citizens of North Bay make it our mandate to cherish and protect the life of every child. Honoured by Tricia Mills, Betty Hurley and Mary Jane St. Onges.
Who inspires you?
Think of someone who has influenced you or your community. The Pergola and its 2,500 leaves will honour people who inspire people like you!  Located at the Oak Street entrance to the Waterfront Park, it welcomes people to the Park's soon to be built "Civic Plaza".  Order your "Leaf of Inspiration" today!

Unearthing a Dream!

Community Waterfront Friends (CWF) is raising $1 million to support the final infrastructure phase of our Waterfront Park. This phase involves shaping and greening of the entire park, including berming, planting the initial trees and shrubs, development of the spiral mound for the future children’s area, most of the Civic Plaza as well as designated parking areas. Each leaf costs $500 (charitable tax receipt provided.) Thank you for helping unearth a dream!
